Thrive in Comfort and Live Your Life to the Fullest.

At our Seating and Wheeled Mobility Clinic, we recognize that your wheelchair is your lifeline. Our goal is to maximize your independence, freedom, and comfort, while also preventing life-threatening pressure sores and other serious medical complications.

MountainCare is proud to sustain this critical service which has existed within the WNC community for decades. Our expert physical therapist has more than 37 years of experience providing custom fitting, seating, and cushioning to children and adults with CP, SCI, MS, ALS, and other conditions which require them to spend their day in a wheelchair.

With a focus on patients with complex, life-long needs, we are prepared to assist you with the following:

  • Providing an individualized, person-centered evaluation of your medical condition and current equipment to determine your functional skills and your seating and wheeled mobility equipment needs.
  • Selecting a supplier that is in-network with your insurance who has the skills to provide you with your new seating and wheeled mobility system.
  • Documenting the medical necessity for Complex Rehab Technology products.
  • Obtaining accurate measurements to ensure you select the best possible fit.
  • Obtaining funding approval for technology like ultra-lightweight manual wheelchairs, Tilt-in-Space manual wheelchairs, and power wheelchairs with power seat functions.
  • Capturing your shape for a custom molded seat or back cushion if required.
  • Using pressure mapping tools to modify your seating along with your supplier to prevent tissue injuries and optimize your posture and function.
  • Fittings to adjust every component to your specific needs.
  • Training regarding the care and use of your new system in conjunction with your supplier to guarantee comfort and ease of use.
