MountainCare ‘s Adult Day programs have been serving our neighbors in Western North Carolina for over 35 years. We have been here to support thousands of families over the years as they have stepped into the challenge of caring for an aging loved one. We are eager to share what we have learned with you to make your experience easier and offer a variety of services to help you care for your loved one. Our team strives to provide affordable services that impact the caregiver as much as the participant.

Adult Day Centers
Our Adult Day Centers provide a safe and enjoyable place for aging adults to stay engaged during the day, while receiving expert care in one of our beautiful, award-winning facilities, located in Buncombe and Henderson counties. We give caregivers peace of mind so they can work or manage other responsibilities knowing that their loved ones are surrounded by friends and a team of qualified, professional staff members.
Our Adult Day experts will monitor your loved one’s condition, safely administer medication, provide nutritious meals and offer meaningful activities that stimulate mind, body and spirit. Enrollment at one of our Adult Day Centers is available without a physician referral for adults 18 years and older.

Mountain Explorers
Mountain Explorers is a part-time program for adults who are interested in a structured group for social opportunities, mental stimulation, exercise, and enrichment. Activities include:
- Fellowship & Fun
- Volunteer work
- Stretching & fitness exercises
- A nutritious lunch
- Interesting group discussions
- Live music
- Arts & crafts
- Board games
We also make frequent outings to local venues, like the NC Arboretum, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Thomas Wolfe House, Grove Park Inn and more. The program takes place at MountainCare Adult Day Services on Mondays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Caregiver Support Groups
MountainCare understands the pressure and challenges involved in caring for an aging loved one. To help caregivers we provide education, support and counseling to the caregivers in addition to the relief provided by our Adult Day Services.
